Your Order

Designing email communications to keep patients informed

challenge

House Rx collaborates with medical practices to fulfill medication orders for patients. Patients receive orders via courier or pick them up at the clinic. To keep the patients informed along the way, the practice needs to send out email updates to the patient. The patients needs to be informed when a order is:

  • created
  • packed
  • on its way or ready for pickup

After the order is delivered or picked up, the patient also needs guidance on the medication and an invoice for their records. House Rx’s pharmacy platform would be responsible for the triggers, but the practices needed templates for emails that would keep the patients informed and provide the guidance they need for therapy.

Responsiveness was key since patients might see these on any device. The most important details like order status and dates are at the top.
I leveraged the subject and the preheader for the most critical info to ensure patients who don’t open the email stay updated.
I created a set of illustrations that indicated the order status visually with some delight
We made variants for orders that are delivered vs. picked up.
All the patients that prefer it, now receive order updates via email
